Teachers on the Bay Invitation

By Jim Groff

As many of you know, the Northern Neck Audubon Society sponsors several scholarships for teachers signed up for Teachers on the Bay, a field-based three-credit course taught by Bill Portlock of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Using St. Margaret’s School as its base, the five-day course explores the Rappahannock River system’s ecology from the Chesapeake Bay to above Rappahannock Academy aboard the Baywatcher, a 42’ research vessel out of Norfolk. The course takes place from July 14 to July 18, and graduate credit is granted through Trinity College in Washington, D.C.

As a perk for providing the scholarship aid, Bill Portlock has again extended an invitation to Northern Neck Audubon members to join the group on the Baywatcher on Monday or Tuesday, July 14 or 15. If you are interested, please give Jim Groff a call at 453-5891 to see if there is still room.
