Various events are being conducted in April and
May by the active and hugely successful Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia
Native Plant Society. In anticipation of the Spring season, and with so
many people interested in preserving our native plants, the NNVNPS and
the Northern Neck Chapter of the National Audubon Society are conducting
informational and motivational walks through some of our local preserves,
guided by experts in the field. Those interested will get an education
and a lot of fresh air. Dates and events for May are as follows:
Thursday, May 6 @9:30 a.m.
Chilton Woods (VA State Forest) walk, guided by Henry Bashore, retired
state forester and member of NN Audubon Society to find showy orchids
in bloom.
Monday, May 10 @8:30 a.m.
Cooperative guided walk with Northern Neck Audubon Society and NN Chapter
of the VA Native Plant Society at Hickory Hollow. Continental breakfast
prior to walk. $8.00.
Monday, May 17 @10:00 a.m.
Guided walk through Anne Dickerson’s native plant garden. Anne is
a member of NNVNPS.
Saturday, May 23 @2-4:00 p.m.
Orchid treasure hunt walk with Ann Messick at Hickory Hollow.
